The language that CSC488 requires you to implement has no existing syntax highlighting in any editor I know of, so I decided to make a simple syntax highlighting file myself for VIM.
The script is on github, you can download it from there or copy the below into a file called 488.vim
Installation on your own machine
Place the downloaded file into
$VIMRUNTIME/syntax/488.vim. Edit your
$VIMRUNTIME/filetype.vim file (or your
~/.vimrc file) and append the following line to it:
au BufRead,BufNewFile *.488 setfiletype 488
Installation on non-rooted machine (i.e. CDF)
Place the downloaded file somewhere in your home folder, say
~/.vim/488.vim. Edit your
~/.vimrc file and append the following line to it:
au BufRead,BufNewFile *.488 so ~/.vim/488.vim
Obviously, if you did not place the 488.vim file into the directory I mentioned in that last example, change the path to wherever you did put it.
